Can I get a high-speed Internet connection where I live? [Top of page]

If you live in the area covered by the circle on the map, you may be able to get high-speed Internet access from AEIWireless. Your location must have a clear line of sight to the central antenna. Trees, hills, buildings, or other obstructions can prevent service in specific locations within the coverage area.

Service is available in in the Lakeside area. See coverage area map. Note that obstructions such as hills or trees can interfere with service inside the coverage area.

Does it work with VPN? [Top of page]

Yes. Many of our subscribers use VPN over their AEIWireless connection.

How is wireless for gaming? [Top of page]

It's excellent. Many AEIWireless subscribers are computer gamers.

Is this satellite? Does AEIWireless use my phone line? [Top of page]

No. We are ground-based wireless. We do not use a satellite connection. AEIWireless service does not use your home phone line.

How do I get it? [Top of page]

Call us at 817-237-6282

Is there a charge if I cancel my service? [Top of page]

Only if you sign up for an annual contract and then cancel within six months. Most subscribers pay by the month.

There is no cancellation fee for monthly service.

How fast is the connection? [Top of page]

Our customers get better than DSL speeds. That is, your connection will be faster than the 384 down/128 up that SBC advertises as DSL. Its actual speed may range from 500 to 700, depending on your location.

How reliable is the connection? [Top of page]

It is very reliable. No connection is perfect; however, if you have problems with your AEIWireless Internet access, call us and we'll get to work on it as quickly as possible. We live here. You are our neighbors. We'll do our best for you.

Steps to take if you can't get online:
  1. Reboot your computer.
  2. If you have a router, reboot it.
  3. If that doesn't work, try power-cycling your AEIWireless radio equipment. Unplug its power for 3 to 5 seconds, then plug it back in.
  4. If nothing works, call us right away!

Does the weather affect the connection? [Top of page]

No. AEIWireless's radio transmissions are not affected by rain, fog, snow, sleet, or dust.

Can I hook up more than one computer to my AEIWireless connection? [Top of page]

Yes. You can use a wired or wireless router to do this. There is no extra charge for extra household or business computers.

Can I have extra email addresses? [Top of page]

Yes. Extra email addresses for family members or staff members are free.

Do you sell your customers' email addresses? [Top of page]

No. To reduce spam:
  • Nothing will block all unwanted email. The delete button is your best friend in the fight against spam.
  • When you get unwanted email that says "Reply to this message to be removed from this list," don't do it. Replying tells the spammer that your address is a live one.
  • Avoid publishing your email on web pages such as guest books. If you want to make it available to the world at large, "spoof" it in some manner such as myemail ATT aeiwireless DTT net. A human can understand this; a robot address-collector may be confused.
  • Read more about anti-spam strategies at sites such as Abuse.net or Elsop's spam page (lots of helpful links).

Does AEIWireless send popup ads onto my computer? [Top of page]

No. AEIWireless provides only Internet access. We do not send any form of ad or popup to your computer. (The maps linked from this page are not popup ads. Popup ads appear without action on your part such as clicking a link.) To get rid of popup ads and "popunders" you have several options:
  • Download and install the Google Toolbar.
  • Free and commercial popup excluder software is available such as Adsgone, Popup Killer, Popup Eliminator, and many more. (AEIWireless has no connection with the companies that distribute these products. AEIWireless is not responsible for the results of software you download and install. If you use third-party software, it is at your own risk. Always virus-check downloaded programs before running them.)
  • Your browser may have a "no popups" setting:

How can I protect my children while they surf the net? [Top of page]

Be aware of the sites and chatrooms your children visit. There is no substitute for direct parental control.

Many products are available to prevent sexually explicit or violent material from being downloaded to your computer, for example We-Blocker, Cyber Patrol, and Net Nanny. (AEIWireless has no connection with the companies that distribute these products. AEIWireless is not responsible for the results of software you download and install. If you use third-party software, it is at your own risk. Always virus-check downloaded programs before running them.)

What is wireless broadband? [Top of page]

Wireless broadband is high-speed delivery of Internet data without using wires or cables. It is delivered using a high-speed radio link at a frequency band set up by the Federal Communications Commission for the express purpose of creating local and wide area networks (LANs and WANs). There is no FCC license required, so the service is available immediately. To learn more about wireless broadband, visit Broadband Reports, especially the Wireless ISP Users Chat and the Wireless Service Providers forum.

What kind of wireless broadband is this? [Top of page]

Our system uses a proprietary "Frequency Hopping" technique which actually changes frequency up to 300 times per second, making your signal virtually invulnerable to interception. Please note that no electronic data transmission is absolutely secure. However, we believe that your AEIWireless access is at least as secure as the phone line.
